The exhibitions opening in the fall of 2024 and continuing in 2025, such as Modigliani-Zadkine at the Zadkine Museum, Paris 1793-1794 at the Carnavalet Museum, Bruno Liljefors, Wild Sweden or Ribera at the Petit Palais, are very successful, testifying of a certain resumption of attendance after the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Visits to collections with open and free access* have generally decreased by 10.41%.
“The drop observed compared to the year 2023, which had been the record attendance at Paris Musées since its creation, is relatively small compared to the period of the Olympic and Paralympic Games which saw attendance decrease by around 30 % compared to the same period observed in 2023” specifies the press release.
The closures for renovation of the Museum of Romantic Life in September and the Archaeological Crypt of the Île de la Cité for a month, due to the reopening ceremonies of Notre Dame, also impacted attendance.
The decline also remains uneven depending on the sites and museums. The Catacombs attracted 607,730 visitors, a stable figure compared to 2023, when the Petit Palais, bringing together 1,459,371 visitors, reached its best attendance since its reopening in 2005.
