Public service in force. Friday evening, France 2 easily achieved the best audience score with “César Wagner”, its detective series hosted by Gil Alma. The new episode of the evening, also played by Bruno Solo, intrigued no less than 4.21 million curious people, or 23.1% of the public. Last year, on January 5, 2024, fiction made its return to 4.77 million fans (25.0% of the public).
Behind, we find the little sister France 3 which relied on its magazine, “la Boîte à secrets”, by Faustine Bollaert. The confessions of Théo Curin, Michel Fugain and Lara Fabian fascinated 2.15 million viewers, or 12.7% audience share (PDA), a historic record on this indicator for the program launched in 2019.
M 6 takes the podium with the rebroadcast of the Disney cartoon, “Beauty and the Beast”. This cult film from 1991 took 1.74 million viewers, or 9.5% of the public, back to their childhood. On the commercial target of Women responsible for purchasing aged under fifty (FRDA-50), the market share climbs to 22.1%, allowing the front page to be the leader on this indicator on Friday evening.
The Millionaire Count
Behind, we do not find TF 1 but Canal +. The encrypted channel is a hit thanks to the first broadcast on television of “The Count of Monte Cristo”, one of the biggest successes of French cinema in 2024. Having brought together 9.3 million spectators in theaters, the feature film with Pierre Niney attracted 1 million right in front of the television, or 6.7% of the public.
The evening, however, turned into a disaster for TF 1. After a complicated launch last week with only 1.57 million curious people on average (11.2%) attending, the second issue of its entertainment “Gladiators” n only entertained 862,000 fans, 5.9% of the public, and 10.2% of the FRDA-50. Scores which should be right for the broadcast of the program presented by Denis Brogniart, Hélène Mannarino and Jean-Pierre Foucault, two numbers of which remain to be broadcast for the channel.
