In fact, the court of appeal decided to adjust his sentence under the regime of “home detention under electronic surveillance” (DDSE). In other words, Nicolas Sarkozy is forced to wear an electronic bracelet for a year. This journey nearly 8,000 kilometers from Paris raises questions. Did the former head of state leave with a swimsuit in his suitcases and an electronic bracelet on his ankle?
This is not the case. For what ? Because before setting up such a system, it is necessary to detail precisely the conditions of this future detention. This must be done within the month following the conviction; in other words by January 18, 2025. This means that by this date, he is completely allowed to travel as he pleases.
Nicolas Sarkozy: his year 2025 in prison
