The media library invites you to discover “Words and Images” until Saturday January 4. The result of a collaboration between the Departmental Library of the Jean Jaurès college in , the Tarn departmental media library and the Le Lait contemporary art center, this exhibition brings together the creations of various artists for whom writing plays a central role. in their artistic approach. These artists are Ben Vautier, Joël Ducorroy, Philippe Mayaux, Martine Aballea, César, Sabine-Anne Deshais, Barbara Kruger, and François Bouillon. The exhibition invites you to discover a selection of prints, that is to say prints in several copies using different techniques (silkscreen, lithography, engravings, etc.) from the art library. The words are part of the work as signs and take their place in the same way as color, shape and gesture. From ancient Egypt, where words took the form of an image to express an idea, to the 21st century, where the inlay of a word within the work develops in different artistic currents, word and image are closely linked in the history of art. And each artist has his own relationship with words and images. For Ben Vautier, the word, an artistic gesture in its own right, sometimes becomes the only subject of the image. All audiences. Free.
