Barbazan. Opening of Eugène Petit’s exhibition

The Barbazan casino will open its 2025 cultural program with a new exhibition, the opening of which will take place on Saturday January 4 at 6:30 p.m. After welcoming the paintings of the Arts Symorias collective, those of Eugène Petit will cover the picture rails of the establishment. A native of Luchonnais, it is in the Barousse valley that this watercolor painter lives a peaceful retirement. “Watercolor is two components: paint and water; it is much more than a pictorial technique, it is an art of living, a way of seeing the world. It allows emotions to be transcribed , playing with shadow and light…”, he explains. “When I was a child at the Montréjeau seminary, I learned with a master watercolorist the extraordinary magic that this technique creates. After trying out various mediums such as oil painting, washes with colored inks , I chose a personal technique: watercolor enhanced with chalk”, indicates the former architect whose profession led him to work with technical washes to produce renderings of professional projects… “Today, I feel the pleasure of painting in complete freedom,” confides the latter whose favorite subjects are nature, the discovery of natural and wild places, spaces that man has abandoned and where we pass only very rarely; which provokes in him an emotion making him want to paint the beauty of virginal nature… To find out more, invite you to come and meet the artist. Free and free entry. Access for people with reduced mobility.
