Timothée Chalamet made headlines in October when he entered his own lookalike contest in New York’s Washington Square Park, but the event ended on a bitter note when police attempted to interrupt the competition, stopping four participants.
Event organizer Anthony Po was fined $500 for holding a public event without a permit, and it was revealed that Timothée’s team offered to cover the costs.
He told People: “The production [a coûté] around $4,000, so that’s the best possible scenario. They need to do something stronger to deter us. They offered to pay, which is really funny. »
However, Anthony rejected the offer from Timothée’s team, and digital invitation app Partiful paid the fine instead.
Anthony also revealed that Timothée’s team congratulated him for organizing the event.
He adds: “They said to me, ‘We thought it was great.’ Thank you so much. »
However, the organizer failed to meet the “Dune” actor at the event, and the real Timothée did not make the top 10 lookalikes, despite being the real actor.
Anthony said: “I think if he had stayed until the end I might have given him second place or something.”
