At 3m high, it apparently has the deepest bowl in Belgium: the Tour & Taxis skatepark was inaugurated on June 5th at the Quai des Matériaux. Since then, skaters have been flocking to its 2150m2, spread out on either side of the Suzan Daniel footbridge, the abutment of which is itself an obstacle in the park.

While the smooth concrete seems to satisfy fans of skateboarding, some modules are not unanimous in the small world of skateboarding. The new site is criticized for having a bowl that is too deep and poorly proportioned modules. But the Flemish YouTuber Sachi, 42,300 subscribers, does not share the same opinion. He even calls himself “a big fan” of this new equipment in his recent video, which has accumulated nearly 14,000 views in 3 days. “Because until now Brussels only had a really crappy skatepark”, says Samuel de Graef, referring to the Ursulines concrete. The young man knows what he is talking about: he travels across Belgium and Europe to ride from city to city.

The vlogger first praises the size of the park. “It’s huge, very long, with this huge bowl.” There are, however, downsides. “Some modules are weird. They are out of proportion,” judges the skateboarder. “But it’s a lot of fun to gain a lot of speed, to follow certain lines, because there are a lot of small objects that you can reach.” Sachi especially seems to be a big fan of the famous bowl. To give an idea of its depth, he even swings his board there. Before grabbing a nice bowl.

In his conclusion, Sashi emphasizes the “vast proportions” of the skatepark, which allow “you to ride really, really fast” and make it an “absolutely unique” site. For the connoisseur, “concrete is very good.” And once again, “the bowl is a masterpiece”. He therefore gives the new Tour & Taxis skatepark a score of 8.5/10. Before regretting the lack of communication between the Region and users in its development. And to send this message to the authorities: “You need to ask the local skaters for their opinion. Because some of the stuff here really doesn’t make any sense and it could have been a lot better given the money we invested in it.”
