Gynecologist Juju la Gygy is enjoying immense success on social networks thanks to her explanatory and offbeat videos on female intimacy. When humor is put at the service of education, followers are there and ask for more.
“I didn’t want to have a life on the networks” slides, all smiles, Juju the Gygy. The obstetrician-gynecologist in a large university hospital in Nantes and a maternity hospital in the region wanted above all to write a book to tell “life in the hospital”. To give herself the means, she trained in comics and set up an editorial project, but did not find a publisher. Her entourage advised her at the time to publish on Instagram. “I went there despite myself and it exploded. I didn’t understand what was happening to me, and I found a publisher. When the book came out, I had over 50,000 subscribers (and over 82,000 at the time of writing). I got into the game and started making videos. That’s when Juju la Gygy was born“.
The super gynecologist of the networks alternates between videos and drawings to evoke without taboo, with humor and talent all the subjects related to the intimacy of women. The difference between a smear and a colposcopy, giving birth with spatulas, sun and pregnancy, etc. “I realized that with a video, I could reach thousands of people and provide quality medical information to many people, easily.“. And “Juju” can count on a community in its image.

Recently, Juju la Gygy also took a position, in a video, on the announced closure of small maternity wards.This is a subject that is close to my heart, as a gynecologist in a small maternity ward (less than 600 deliveries/year) and in a large university hospital (more than 4000 deliveries/year). Perinatal care is in crisis, maternity wards are suffering, we need an ambitious perinatal plan, with funding that meets the challenges for parents and their unborn children, but also for caregivers.“.

This mother of “three tornadoes”, as she puts it, could make a living thanks to Instagram, “but I don’t want it“. Juju la Gygy prefers to concentrate on her real job, while continuing to feed her network and work on writing a new book. Not to mention her other projects: “I would like to be able to bring more art to the hospital by creating exhibitions, art therapy, artistic residencies. We heal better when we are surrounded by beautiful things” she smiled before grimacing:
