Dance, music, storytelling and a new circus… A whole entertaining programme to start the school holidays with the family on the occasion of the first edition of Amuse & Vous at the Champ Fleuri teahouse, on 6, 9 and 10 July. A festival to awaken and amaze young and old (photo VW).

The departmental Téats promised us at the start of the year, a festival for young audiences is coming next weekend. On July 6, 9 and 10, the teat Champ Fleuri gets into school vacation time with the first edition of Amuse & Vous, in place of Totototal initiated by the previous mandate.

On the program: dance, music, storytelling and new circus make up this new highlight of the Téats program which will take place in two stages since they straddle the last week of school and the first week of the school holidays. Thus, on July 2 and 4, the Cie Les âmes nocturnes and the Quatuor Arsis will be performing at Champ Fleuri, in front of students from a dozen primary schools in the main town, Sainte-Marie and La Possession.

Then it’s time for the holidays and the festival itself, open to the general public on July 6, 9 and 10, with each day, at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m., two shows (at low prices, at a single rate of €7), in addition to the festival village which will hold a range of free activities (giant bubble workshops, lontan games, face painting, reading area, wooden games, photo booth), from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., both in the theater hall and on the square as well as in the Departmental Archives car park specially designed as a pedal kart circuit.

Among the shows, there is a multidisciplinary one combining theatre, mime, circus and clown, with a very evocative name: “La valse du marcassin” by Les âmes nocturnes, a company that knows Reunion Island well since it has already performed at Komidi in particular.

On stage, a couple and their 11-year-old son immerse us in a magical, poetic and funny world and beyond that, invite us to think differently, to change our vision and our certainties about ourselves and the world around us.

“We talk about everyday life in an extra-everyday way and we poeticize our way of seeing the world in a distracting and sensitive way with the aim of freeing up speech, looking at things with more lightness and taking a step back,” indicate Cécile Roussat and Julien Lubek also working on “Contes pour enfant pas sages” (“Peter and the Wolf” and “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice”) aimed at schoolchildren on July 2 and 4.

On the concert side, the Arcis string quartet will offer in partnership with the festival Once upon a time the holidays “From Mozart to Harry Potter”, a very good musical and fun trip, in the same way as “The ABC of Boris Vian” from the Cie Debout sur le Zinc, a great jubilant moment mixing music and theater.

3-4 year olds will not be left out with “Dann mon marmit”, a project by the local company Baba Sifon around the taste pleasures and flavors of Reunion Island.

Finally, as a closing, a dance show entitled “Muddle” will be given in front of the theater by the Véronique Asencio Company, on the more topical themes of the environment, mass pollution and ecology.

For three days, Amuse & Vous will be a truly playful invitation to take a different look at the world to awaken and amaze all children’s souls, whatever their age. It should also be noted that this “zero number” will serve as a test to determine whether the August holidays are favorable in terms of attendance; if so, the festival could be postponed to the October short holidays.
