Former country composer who died on Thursday June 27, Martin Mull had appeared in numerous cult sitcoms and comedies since the 1970s.

Actor Martin Mull, who starred in 1990s sitcoms Sabrina, the Teenage Witch et Roseanne, died Thursday June 27, announced his daughter Maggie Mull on her Instagram account. He was 80 years old.

“It is with a broken heart that I announce the death of my father at home on June 27, after a valiant battle against a long illness,” she said in a statement, adding that he “excelled in all artistic fields.”

Martin Mull became known in the late 1970s thanks to the sitcom Mary Hartman, Mary Hartmana soap opera parody, and its spin-off Fernwood 2 Nighttwo audience successes on American television.

Tyrannical principal

This former country composer then appeared in several sitcoms of the time, from Taxi to Crunchybefore landing a recurring role in Roseannewhere he plays the boss of the heroine played Roseanne Barr.

Martin Mull also played a tyrannical headmaster in the teen series Sabrina, the Teenage Witch in the late 1990s. Several cult comedy series like Arrested Development et Veep had since called on him.

In cinema, Martin Mull also played Colonel Mustard in the film version of Cluedo released in 1985. He also landed a role in Madame Doubtfire alongside Robin Williams.
