A call to vote. Questioned this Thursday at a press conference in Paderborn (Germany) before the start of the Euro (June 14-July 14), the French Ousmane Dembélé reacted to the holding of the next legislative elections, on June 30 and July 7, after the dissolution of the National Assembly by Emmanuel Macron on the evening of the European elections won by the National Rally.

“It’s not that I don’t want to take a stand, but given the situation in France I think the alarm bells have been raised. I think we need to mobilize to vote. I looked at the 1 p.m. news and saw that one in two French people did not vote. We must mobilize to vote. The legislative elections are coming, the FFF is going to put something in place so that we can vote by proxy. »

“Everyone has their own opinion. I have mine and that’s how it is. I don’t need to spread anything. We talked about it among ourselves. Here, we were told about proxies and everyone will do what they have to do,” summarized Ferland Mendy.

Coman and Upamecano did not speak

The day before, Wednesday, Kingsley Coman and Dayot Upamecano had refused any comment on political news. “We didn’t talk about it. We told each other that we had a competition to prepare which concerns football. We try to keep our focus on football,” said the Bayern winger. Upamecano had a similar thought: “I didn’t come to talk about politics, I prefer to talk about football. »

In the sporting sphere, certain athletes have spoken out about the situation. The athletes of the Orléans Fencing Circle notably spoke on France Bleu, admitting to fearing the arrival of the RN to power.
