It is one of the 20 films supported by the Region presented at 2024, and one of the 6 ultimately rewarded.

Last achievement of Sophie Fillières, who died in July 2023, My life, my face will be released on September 18, 2024, crowned with the SACD Authors’ Favorite at the Filmmakers’ Fortnight on the Croisette.

The filmmaker, who entrusted the supervision of the editing to her children, the actress Agathe Bonitzer and the director Adam Bonitzer, had already been supported by the Region for:

  • A cat, a cat (2009), the story of a thirty-something woman (Chiara Mastroianni) who has lost her bearings,
  • Kind (2005), the story of a thirty-something woman (Emmanuelle Devos) unable to choose between her unfaithful love and her faithful lover.

What all these films have in common is their mixture of lightness and gravity, humor and melancholy.

My life, my face, which has the appearance of a self-portrait, is focused on an almost sixty-year-old who is also disoriented by becoming aware of her age. And who questions herself more than ever about the meaning of life.

The story: Barberie (Agnès Jaoui), who is called Barbie to her great displeasure, may have been beautiful, may have been loved, may have been a good mother, a reliable colleague, a great lover… Today, it’s dark, it’s violent, it’s absurd and it terrifies her: she’s 55 (that’s to say 60 and soon more!). It was inevitable, but how can you deal with yourself, with death, with life in short?

Also starring Angelina Woreth, Édouard Sulpice…
