The polio vaccination campaign is launched in the Kwilu province. The related ceremony was organized on Wednesday in the town of Bandundu.
This campaign targets one million two hundred and six thousand five hundred and twenty-two children aged zero to five, or 19.9% of the total population of Kwilu. She will go from door to door from June 13 to 15 in all the twenty-four health zones of the province, confronted with eighty-eight reported cases of poliomyelitis.
However, there are concerns about data collection and transfer to the national biomedical research institute. The representative of the Head of the Provincial Health Division pleaded for the construction of a provincial laboratory to solve the problem throughout the Greater Bandundu region.
“There is a real problem of transport in acceptable conditions at the national laboratory. This is why we pray for the construction of the provincial laboratory to resolve this problem for greater Bandundu” declared Doctor Marina Mabasa, representative of the Chief of the provincial health division.
One million two hundred and twenty-five thousand one hundred children were vaccinated during the first sentence at the end of March, out of one million two hundred and six thousand, five hundred and twenty-nine children, or 102%.
