Autism spectrum disorders (ASD) affect around 700,000 people in France, according to figures from the National Institute of Health and Medical Research (Inserm). This neurodevelopmental abnormality can take different forms and manifest as alterations in social interactions and communication, as well as typical behaviors, such as reluctance to change and a tendency toward repetition. The people concerned, adds Inserm, often seem isolated in their inner world and present particular sensory reactions. Despite these differences, recognized as a disability since 1996, some people with ASD provide essential testimonies to better understand these disorders and the best way to live with them. A long diagnosis
