The intercommunal hospital center is taking advantage of National Sexual Health Week to show minors and adults the various local services it offers in this area. Yesterday, several stands in the reception hall informed the public, hosted by experts from the Raphaëlo-Fréjus hospital.

The family planning and education center (CPEF, family planning) had organized several games, questionnaires on equality, first times, contraception, consent, sexually transmitted diseases… in order to explain in a fun way to young people the means to protect themselves and methods of contraception.

Indeed, adolescents hospitalized in psychiatry, those followed at the part-time therapeutic assistance center, those in the Fréjus educational loft, were able to benefit from moments of exchange and valuable information. Many visitors inquired about the transmission and prevention of human papillomavirus (HPV) infection.

Being able to be supported for an abortion

With the mission of ensuring medical planning consultations in terms of contraceptive means and prevention of unwanted pregnancies, the CPEF offers consultations every Wednesday, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., on the first floor of the hospital, gynecology department obstetrics. Everyone can benefit from the advice of specialists, quickly, by appointment (no waiting list), by calling from Monday to Friday at 04.94.40.22.27.

A multidisciplinary team receives patients – medical secretary, gynecologists, midwives, psychologist and social worker – and organizes information sessions on emotional, relational and sexual life in middle and high schools in the metropolitan community.

Anyone of childbearing age can come for information and consultation, whatever their family or social situation, in complete confidentiality. Support is free and anonymous for minors, young adults or people in precarious situations.

“We provide the diagnosis of a pregnancy and the management of requests for voluntary termination of pregnancy (abortion). Nearly 300 abortions are performed per year at the hospital, 70% of which are medical and 30% surgical, clarified the health professionals. Women can be reminded that abortion is possible up to seven weeks of pregnancy (nine weeks of amenorrhea). We can even direct people who are victims of violence, we need to have an answer for everything.”

Free STI testing

Specialists from the free information, screening and diagnosis center (Cegidd) for HIV, viral hepatitis and sexually transmitted infections (STIs) also recalled the consultation days, Mondays from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and Thursdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., always by appointment at 04.94.17.79.61. Screenings are free and anonymous.

Cegidd provides information on the factors of exposure to AIDS viruses and STIs, treats certain STIs, provides care in the event of an accident involving exposure to viruses, takes care of vaccinations against hepatitis and papillomavirus, initiates pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) as well as the prevention and detection of sexual violence, or violence linked to sexual orientation.
