Last week, the federal traffic police seized 23 kilos of synthetic drugs from a van with a French license plate, the West Flanders prosecutor’s office said on Monday. The driver and her passenger, both aged 19, were arrested.
Last Tuesday evening, the federal traffic police noticed this French van along the E17 towards France. The officers then decided to direct the vehicle to a motorway parking lot in Marke, near Kortrijk.
“During the inspection, irregularities were found in the floor covering, as a result of which a hidden room was discovered containing more than 23 kilograms of narcotics”said the West Flanders public prosecutor’s office. “The synthetic drug was seized and is being examined in a forensic laboratory. The driver and her passenger were arrested. They are two 19-year-old French women.”the prosecution said.
The suspects will be questioned and will appear in court on Friday in the Courtrai council chamber. They were arrested for importing and exporting narcotics.
