Numbers and lettersalready the return ? According to information from JDD, published this Sunday, June 30, 2024, the longest game in the history of French television could be resurrected at the start of the next school year by a TNT channel. Indeed, while France Télévisions has made the decision to remove its cult game from the France 3 channels from the end of August, the C8 chaindirected by Franck Appietto, would be interested in to the relaunch of this game created by Armand Jammot and produced by Patrice Laffont.

If for now, nothing has been confirmed by C8, this potential collaboration would not be a surprise, for several reasons. The first, Patrice Laffont, has already collaborated with C8 in the past and was a columnist for Do not touch My TV during a few broadcasts in the fall of 2020. The second, C8 has already relaunched many cult brands and many of its relaunches have proven successful. The channel has notably relaunched games in the past The weakest link, Take it or leave it et A gold family with Julien Courbet and Cyril Hanouna, and more recently Only the truth matters with Pascal Bataille and Laurent Fontaine. A new season has been ordered in view of the excellent audience figures achieved this season.

Théo Curin in seven out of seven

The comeback Numbers and letters would be a nice surprise for fans of the game. Launched in 1965 under the name The longest word, the game should have celebrated its sixtieth anniversary next year… But after numerous changes and upheavals, the management of France Télévisions took note of the significant drop in audience for the program and wanted to replace it at the start of the school year with a daily broadcast of Slamwith Théo Curin at the presentation. The 1000 Euro Gameco-presented by Carinne Teyssandier and Nicolas Stoufflet, will be entitled to an additional hour of play, being broadcast every Saturday but also every Sunday.

Arielle and Bertrand back on C8?

If the game were to return to C8, it remains to be seen whether Patrice Laffont would still be the producer… Also, Arielle Boulin-Prat and Bertrand Renard, dismissed by France Télévisions in 2022, could perhaps be recalled. They had attacked the public service at the industrial tribunal and each demanded 500,000 euros damages. Since 2022, they have been replaced by Blandine Maire and Stéphane Crosnier. On the animation side, Laurent Romejko had already embodied the game for 32 years and had succeeded Christine Fabréga (1965-1970), Patrice Laffont (1972-1989), Laurent Cabrol (1989-1991) and Max Meynier (1991-1992).
