INTERVIEW – This 39-year-old French documentary filmmaker has switched to fiction, and signs The ghosts, a fascinating debut spy thriller.

We meet him at 9, cité Paradis, in the Parisian offices of his distributor, Memento. Jovial and enthusiastic, at almost 40, Jonathan Millet signs his first fiction film (presented this year at the Semaine de la Critique in Cannes). Parisian by birth, but having grown up in the Alps, he launched into documentary after studying philosophy. A globetrotter, he travels the world with a camera in his hand and films remote regions for databases, from Iran to South America via Sudan, Pakistan, the Middle East and Africa. He signs several documentaries, including Ceuta, sweet prison (2014), Latest news from the stars (2017) or Disappearance (2021). But it is with The ghosts, unique spy thriller, which leaves a lasting impression.
