During a recent interview with Spanish channel RockFM, Scorpions guitarist Rudolf Schenker discussed the possibility of his brother, Michael Schenker, joining the legendary German rock band. Despite past tensions and differing musical philosophies, Rudolf left the door open for a possible reunion.
“Never say never. In this case, I am always open”, said Rudolf. He acknowledges that the two brothers took different paths in their careers. “My brother wanted to be the best guitarist in the world, or one of the best guitarists in the world”explained Rudolf. “I always said I wanted to be in a rock band, one of the 30 biggest rock bands in the world. Everyone therefore has their own objective, but these objectives are not necessarily compatible with each other.”
Rudolf explained the differences between their musical goals. “When you want to become one of the best guitarists in the world, it’s very difficult to be in a band, because you have your own ideas. As for me, I have always been there to create good chemistry with great people. And today, after almost 60 years, we have perhaps the best chemistry in the world. Our goal is to make the fans happy and give them what they expect.”
The guitarist also expressed the affection he has for his brother despite their differences. “I like my brother. This is the most important point. But when you have different philosophies, you can’t relate them very easily. We will have to wait another moment… In any case, I remain open.”
