[Villeneuve-d’Ascq, Nord, 62 100 hab.] How can we encourage citizen participation, particularly that of people with visual or cognitive disabilities? In Villeneuve-d’Ascq, the municipality has imagined, in collaboration with the Handifac association, an inclusive system: “Consultation at your fingertips”.

The principle ? A module containing the paper version of a plan glued to a metal plate, on which magnetic elements made of Lego, wood or Velcro are arranged in relief. “The idea emerged during the presentation of a road project to the municipal accessibility commission, where visually impaired people sit,” says Benoit Dacquin, “inclusive accessibility” project manager. So that they can fully understand the issues and express their opinion, in addition to the plan projected on screen, we created a 3D plan with matches, brads and pieces of string. The experience was conclusive. »

Lego, scratch, wooden pieces

However, this system is complex to implement, so the team considered, with the technical services, a system that was both lighter and more modular.

An easily transportable case, containing wooden pieces, Legos and elements with scratch or a rough texture, was thus designed.
