Kendji Girac speaks for the first time after almost losing his life

Singer Kendji Girac took the floor Wednesday evening to address his audience. Having remained discreet for several weeks, he confided “having lost himself”, and wanting “to return to the boy he was”.

A touching message. In a long video revealed Wednesday June 26 on Instagram, Kendji Girac addressed his audience. Visibly moved, explaining that he was “stressed but happy at the same time”, the 27-year-old artist, who last April shot himself in the chest on an area with a lot of travelers in Biscarrosse, in the Landes , where he was staying with family, looked back on what he has been through in recent months.

“Since my message of May 10 I have not given you any news because I had to take care of myself and think about what had happened. To understand how I got there. And above all, make the right decisions for the future,” explains the artist.

Confident that he is “getting better”, he emphasizes that he wants to address his audience “with his words” and “regrets everything that happened”.

“I got into a spiral”

“During the accident and for some time I had developed bad habits. I got into a spiral that I wouldn’t wish on anyone. Despite the advice of those around me, I was not aware of it at all and unfortunately, I got lost” says Kendji Girac. “All that is not part of me. I’m not a boy like that,” he continues, explaining that he wants to “apologize.”

Well aware of having almost lost everything, Kendji Girac says he gets “help” to move forward. “As you know, I almost lost my life, the love of my family, the love of my audience, of my friends. My daughter almost lost her father. I don’t know what happened,” notes the artist.

“I don’t intend to do all those things that obviously destroy people again and I want to become the boy I was, that I am deep down. The most important thing is to learn from your mistakes, you can always get back up, nothing is fixed in life,” he continues.

Find yourself and move forward

“My goal is to make people happy with a piece of song, a smile or a share. Since I was little, I have been like that, except that here, I did quite the opposite,” he continues, reiterating his apologies and thanking all those who supported him.

Confident that he has drawn on the support and goodwill of his fans, his family and his friends, who have given him “a lot of strength these last two months”, Kendji Girac explains that he is determined to seize “this second chance” and to leave this episode “behind him”. “It’s up to me to show you who I am, to regain your trust,” he continues, specifying that he now wants to rebuild with “solid foundations.” “I know which path to take,” concludes the artist, who can’t wait to see his audience again.

On Monday, the Mont-de-Marsan public prosecutor’s office indicated that the investigation was closed after concluding that the shot which injured Kendji Girac was provoked by the singer himself.
