Yesterday, Friday June 28, the start of the school year took place at Domaine de Luchin. With a new coach at their head – Bruno Génésio having succeeded Paulo Fonseca – the Mastiffs have launched their summer preparation, the first major event of which will be the third preliminary round of the Champions League (first leg on August 6 or 7, return on 13).

While winger Edon Zhegrova expressed his desire to move elsewhere a few weeks ago, quickly calmed by president Olivier Létang, star scorer Jonathan David will leave the club during the transfer window, by virtue of the exit voucher he was granted. The search for a new striker is therefore essential, especially in view of future deadlines. According to our colleague Sacha Tavolieri, LOSC is tracking Michel-Ange Balikwisha, striker of Royal Antwerp.

Who is Michel-Ange Balikwisha, in LOSC’s sights?

Aged 23, this player, who has passed through the Belgian youth and hopeful selections, is capable of covering the entire front of the attack, with a preference for the left flank and a role as an inside winger. Author of 10 goals and 8 assists in 44 matches, all competitions combined, Balikwisha would like to join a team qualified for the next C1. A competition that he had the opportunity to discover during last season, achieving an achievement against Shakhtar Donetsk.

Not yet sure of participating in the next Champions League, Lille would however be an option considered by the player himself. Especially since his representative has a good relationship with Olivier Létang.

A Northern Derby for Balikwisha?

Sacha Tavolieri also tells us of the interest of… RC Lens for the native of Gent. While a new cycle is underway on Bollaert’s side, several elements are being pushed towards the exit. In attack, Elye Wahi in particular, recruited at a high price last summer (35 million euros), will not be selected in the event of a significant offer. Thus, Michel-Ange Balikwisha would appear on the shelves of Sang et Or. Contractually linked until 2026 with the resident of Jupiler Pro League, his value is estimated at 9 million euros by the Transfermarkt site.
