CIt's a shame! “, exclaims Josette Reitano. This resident of Drap discovered several hundred undelivered letters in her trash container on Tuesday, November 26. “I was stunned. I am very angry because we have been going without mail for several months for days and days”she is indignant. And to continue: “There were registered letters, letters from Public Finance, Caf, pension funds, CPAM, etc. The recipients lived in Drap, Cantaron and La Trinité.” Rebelote, Thursday November 28, this time in La Trinité. Hundreds of letters were discovered by a resident in a trash bin.
The mayor will “reconvene the management of La Poste”
The mayor of Drap, Robert Nardelli, is also “very angry. There were mail delays, now entire rounds end up in the dumpster”. The chief magistrate does not intend to stop there. “I am considering making a report to the public prosecutor's office under article 40 to inform them and see what action they can take. If it turns out that mail from the town hall was in the discarded mail, I would file a complaint .” The chosen one will also “reconvene the management of La Poste quickly”.
Because the management of this company with public service missions has already passed into the mayor's office on October 17 “for serious malfunctions in mail delivery”according to Robert Nardelli. Following a consultation of the population, the town hall received hundreds of testimonies: “My bank sent me my new card by mail which I did not receive. They had to cancel it. And this happened twice”according to this Drapoise. “I received my checkbook a month and a half late. I no longer receive my EDF invoices and my account statements”writes another resident. “Important letters – checkbook, bank card, disabled card, medical reports – are not delivered, which causes us big problems”tells this couple. “My disability pension was almost stopped because I did not respond to two of their letters that I had not received”testifies this Drapoise. Residents who remain distraught. “I called the Post Office several times, my husband too. We sent letters. No response from them”these Drapois are indignant.
The Saint-André mail platform singled out
What is happening at the Saint-André-de-la-Roche mail distribution platform? A petition from concerned residents was launched on Change.org., demanding that “the postal center is once again distributing mail within the correct time frame instead of storing it in large quantities in its center. (…) Some residents were forced to collect their mail from the sorting center themselves. (…) The excuses provided by the Saint-André-de-la-Roche postal center are diverse: lack of staff, restructuring, badges supposedly deactivated in certain buildings, letters with incomplete contact details. These excuses are pretexts.
The senator from Alpes-Maritimes, Dominique Estrosi-Sassone, asked, on November 19, the CEO. of the La Poste Philippe Wahl group “to kindly analyze the reasons for these disruptions and do everything possible to remedy them and once again ensure a quality public service to the inhabitants of Drap, as well as to those of Falicon, Saint-André-de-la-Roche and La Trinité, faced with the same disappointments.” Contacted following the letters found in the trash, Dominique Estrosi-Sassone, president of the Senate Economic Affairs Committee, will “contact the CEO of La Poste. It is up to him to carry out an investigation. What is serious is that it is a deliberate act. How is this possible? I am waiting for answers.”
“We don’t have the means to do our job”
La Poste unions “deplore this situation”. Pour Matthew Viola, CGT FACT: “Users of the public postal service do not have a quality of service and yet they have the right to demand it. We are calling on our management to address these issues in the various services. We do not have the means to do our job in good conditions. The tours are increasingly long. In Saint-André-de-la-Roche, this is the case. a third of the workforce is staff temporary employment in which there is a large turnover.”
La Poste has “filed a complaint”
Asked, the management of La Poste “was alerted on November 26 of the discovery of 220 abandoned letters. Thanks to the addresses of the letters, the agent (on fixed-term contract) who was responsible for them was identified and La Poste filed a complaint against him with the gendarmerie for breach of secrecy or deletion of correspondence by a public service manager. The correspondence was collected and redistributed. In the meantime, new abandoned mail items (70 in a second location and an unknown number in a third location) were discovered on the same distribution tour. These letters are being recorded and processed to be distributed as quickly as possible. »
Concerning the quality of distribution in the Saint-André-de-la-Roche sector, La Poste management declares: “Following complaints from our customers, we have taken measures and we see encouraging effects of improvement quality of service. We apologize to our customers for this inconvenience. We encourage them to always contact our customer service (36 31) as soon as they notice a problem so that we can remedy it. »
