(Ecofin Agency) – This is remuneration which results from a year 2023 marked by a double-digit increase in performance indicators, according to the financial opinion debated by the shareholders at the Ordinary General Meeting.

The shareholders of the BGFI Holding group, based in Libreville, Gabon, validated during their ordinary general meeting the distribution of a dividend of $19 per share for the 2023 financial year, we learn from a press release received on June 27 2024. At the current rate of the American currency, this represents a little more than 11,500 Central African FCFA.

Although it is down compared to the previous dividend, this remuneration is the highest ever decided in a single year by the financial institution present in a dozen countries in Africa and Europe. For the 2022 financial year, the amount distributed per share was 15,850 FCFA, but it covered the 2021 and 2022 financial years.

Shareholders also approved a consolidated balance sheet total of $9 billion and consolidated net income of $156 million.

In its financial communications, the financial group, which continues to strengthen its pan-African presence, declared an increase in interest and commission income of more than 20%. This dynamic has enabled growth of around 52% in its net profit between 2022 and 2023.

BGFI Group is continuing to repurchase the shares currently sold by the French group Société Générale in its subsidiary in the Republic of Congo. The completion of this transaction should strengthen the fundamentals of the bank, which ended 2023 with a net cash position of more than $1 billion.
