This Friday, November 8, 2024, Entreprendre en Pays Loudun organized a visit to the postal sorting center located rue Guillaumet in Loudun. This discovery behind the scenes of the company was presented by Philippe Vivier, operational manager. “The mail arrives from Migné-Auxances: 70% of it is pre-sorted in the direction of the route and then it is distributed among the postmen, which takes between 1 hour 30 minutes and 2 hours of preparation”specifies Philippe Vivier. The tour runs from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. for a route of between 80 and 120 km. The postman also distributes between 50 to 60 packages per day. All are scanned, which allows great traceability and thus easy finding. At certain times of the year, such as Christmas, the number of packages can double or even triple, which requires additional staff. La Poste’s know-how is closely observed by the competition and is based on its quality of service, its experience and its knowledge of the territory. The commitment is to deliver packages on D + 1 or even D + 2.
A postal activity that is diversifying
Due to the drop in mail-related activity, La Poste is diversifying and offering new services. As elderly people often wish to stay at home, they are offered the delivery of meals and medications and weekly visits with messages to trusted people. La Poste also supports commercial procedures by SMS, by email, by flyer, placed in the mailbox but also addressed letters. We can also dematerialize all types of documents, for example registered letters, invoices which are sent to the sorting center concerned and then placed in envelopes. A set of services set up to make life easier for customers and businesses.
