Bruno Marchand said he was “disappointed” to see that the Réseau de transport de la Capitale (RTC) would only obtain 4% – or approximately $37M – of the government aid of $879M granted to transport companies in Quebec.
“If that’s it, there’s not much left. It’s disappointing […] If it’s just that for Quebec, it seems to me that it’s not the proportion of what we represent in Quebec,” said the mayor of Quebec, Thursday afternoon, in an impromptu press release, in reaction to the economic update from Minister of Finance Eric Girard.
The latter declared that “the issue” has remained the same for years, namely “the key to distributing the sums [qui] favors those who use public transportation the most”, therefore the Montreal region.
For 2025, the RTC was able to complete a balanced budget. On the other hand, solutions will have to be found for the next three years. An analysis of bus routes will have to be carried out, repeated the mayor.
