The writer, Spanish-Mexican journalist and economist Claudia Luna Palencia participated in prime time at the Madrid Book Fair, on Saturday June 15, at stand 37 of the Juan Rulfo bookstore.

The writer has signed several of her books, in particular the second edition of her story “The rescue of the turtle Pepe” from Editorial Algorfawhich is very popular with children and their parents.

His novel “The Mothball Club”, which takes place in Madrid in 1999 and which deals with the loneliness of the elderly in a mortgaged Spain in the midst of a real estate boom, has not gone unnoticed.

The story is based on a true event and reflects the moment that Spanish society was going through, particularly in Madrid, and which, years later, would give rise to many of the problems that still exist today.

Luna Palencia is the granddaughter of Julián Palencia González, who was active in Almería in favor of the Republic and who ended up in a forced labor camp in Bou Arfa, Algeria, for the construction of the trans-Saharan railway. He arrived in Mexico as a political refugee.

Of Spanish nationality, she lived in Spain for several periods before settling permanently in Malaga. She works in Madrid as a journalist and correspondent for La Moncloa and is an expert in geopolitics and geoeconomics.
