Michka Assayas traced for the listeners of Inter Paul McCartney’s journey in a nine-part series that has garnered over 760,000 downloads. This book brings this story to life with details, illustrations and personal memories.
Paul McCartney’s journey with and without the Beatles now spans more than sixty years.
He knew how to enrich his work by returning to his first themes and reviving them with renewed freshness. Faithful to his childhood garden, he has drawn new paths, traced new perspectives and made another light spring forth. Since the naive sixties that saw the birth of the Beatles, Paul McCartney has been aware that the world has become more cynical, violent and sometimes hateful. To still seek love there, some think, you have to be very naive, blind or hypocritical. Not him, who has never deviated from his credo. As he himself wrote, “many people think that love is a stupid song topic when it is exactly the opposite. This impulse that we feel for each other is what makes life better. No, there is nothing naive about love.” In writing this story, I have never lost sight of this obvious fact.

Michka Assayas was born on November 2, 1958. A former student of the École Normale Supérieure de Saint-Cloud, he collaborated in 1980, at Rock & Folk And Releaseas a specialist in post-punk rock, a movement that was then in the minority (New Order, The Smithsetc.). Literary criticism at Release and columnist at Inrockuptibleshe is the author of numerous stories and novels, including Exhibition who won the Deux-Magots prize in 2003 as well as Very good trip (2022) Very good Bowie trip (2023), and Very good Woodstock trip (2024) published by GM Éditions.
