Prince William meets Frederik X at England-Denmark match

As promised, Prince William was present, this June 20, 2024, in the stands of the Frankfurt Arena, to support the Three Lions against the Danish national team during the Euro. In the stands, the Prince of Wales joined King Frederik X and his daughter, Princess Josephine. All in a festive atmosphere.

Surrounded by an armada of bodyguards, Prince William strides towards the stands of the Frankfurt Arena, like a child impatient for the game to begin. The eldest son of Charles III has never hidden it: he has a boundless passion for football. It is therefore not surprising to see him ignite even before the kick-off of the match, which pits England against Denmark on June 20, is launched.

President of the English Football Federation, he promised to be present to support the Three Lions, favorites for this Euro 2024. It’s done. He is not the only one to have high hopes for his national team. King Frederik X also traveled to Copenhagen.

Far from their last solemn reunion at Omaha Beach as part of the celebrations of the 80th anniversary of the Landings on June 6, their embrace is intended to be more warm and relaxed. A “check” and an arm on the shoulder. The Prince of Wales seems delighted to find Frederik X around a common passion. The Danish sovereign is also in very good company. His daughter, Princess Josephine, joined him, a loyal supporter in the colors of her country. The opportunity to capture a nice photo before everyone returns to their place!

If the English are at the top of their group, they are not yet qualified for the round of 16. A victory would give them more peace of mind. As the captain, Harry Kane, opened the scoring, William jumped up, overjoyed. But his exaltation is short-lived. The defense of the Three Lyons, judged “sloppy” by the Daily Mail, gives him a cold sweat. Kane loses the ball to Morten Hjulmand who equalizes after being flashed at 114 km/h! Disappointed, the heir to the Crown hides his face in his hands. Yet accustomed to showing reserve in all circumstances, the Prince of Wales goes from jubilation to disappointment.

Like Frederik X and Princess Josephine who never take their eyes off the ball, alert. Denmark shows great team cohesion and better solidarity than England, but it is not enough. As the final whistle blows, the score shows one goal throughout. Without waiting, William goes to the locker room to chat with the players and say a few words of encouragement. Nothing is lost ! If England win their next match against Slovenia, head to the round of 16. A birthday gift that would be more than perfect for this football-loving prince who is celebrating his 42nd birthday this June 21.

Meanwhile, 260 kilometers away, King Felipe VI attended La Roja’s triumph against Italy at the Gelsenkirchen stadium. The Spanish national team finishes first in its group and automatically qualifies for the next stage of the competition. Certainly less demonstrative than Prince William, the one who celebrated his ten years of reign the day before, made a point of congratulating the players one by one. What augurs a most royal Euro!
