Surfaces d’exposition “triplets”, “museography respectful of its history”a bar and a reception venue on the roof facing the bay of … The La Malmaison art center is reborn.

The work will be delivered in “February 2025”assures the City, which validated, during the municipal council of this Monday, September 30, the programming of the reopening exhibition which is intended “emblematic”.

This one is entitled “Luxury, calm and voluptuousness”. It will offer works by around fifty painters from the end of the 19th century to the second half of the 20th century, “who were inspired by the landscape of the South”specifies the City.

Ingres, Picasso, Matisse, Bonnard, Renoir, but also Philippe Pradalié, Vincent Bioulès, Patrice Giorda, Philippe Hortala or even Daniel Clarke, Ronan Barrot, Marion Charlet… The stated objective is to “place La Malmaison as a reference place for contemporary art”.

Free entry to the inauguration

Entrance to the rehabilitated cultural institution, which will total 600m2, compared to 207m2 so far, will be free for the inauguration weekend, then the price will be between 3.50 and 6.50 euros. It will end on April 20, 2025.

Each floor of La Malmaison will be dedicated to a theme: “Call of light, dazzling in the face of nature”; “Interiors and happy days”; “Golden Age”. For a “a real invitation to reflect on the beauty of the Mediterranean world, but also on the challenges of the modern world”the exhibition “will appeal to art lovers and all those interested in the inspiring light of the South”we display.

“It will be a real meeting place to discover all the works of the artists but also the remarkable renovation work on the building“, underlined the municipal councilor responsible for culture, Jean-Michel Arnaud.
