Descriptive text here

Over the next few months, the one we saw in the series The Emperor will devote himself mainly to music, since his duo Gustafson is preparing an album which will be released in September. The actor will also be in the cast of the show Janette, a tribute to Janette Bertrand which will be presented at Duceppe in spring 2025, and he is expecting the arrival of a little boy in July.

Jean-Philippe, how are you?

I’m doing very well! I’m on a break from filming at the moment and it’s spring. My duo Gustafson will present a second album at the end of the summer. My partner Adrien Bletton and I returned to our old loves for the guitar and the piano. It will be a very seventies atmosphere, and there will be a big influence from the Bee Gees. There is sunshine in this album, which has the title Smile to the angels. Maripier (Morin) and I are expecting a second child this summer as well.

How are you experiencing the arrival of this second child?

I’m really crazy! I’m very excited and I can’t wait! Our child is due on July 4th and it will be a little boy. We’ve already figured out the name, but we’re keeping it to ourselves for now.

Will there be a third?

No. We’re not old — we’re 37 and 38 — but I think two children is a nice number, and we’re a happy family.

Do you ultimately like life in the countryside?

Yes, it’s going very well. We are happy, and I don’t miss the city at all. I like space, silence, and being closer to my family too, it’s precious.

Will you take a break from work when your son arrives?

Not really. Maripier finishes radio at the beginning of June, she gives birth at the beginning of July and she will return to radio in mid-August. For my part, I have nothing confirmed at the moment, so I will be a dad at home. But you know the job; If I land an interesting first role, I’ll accept it, that’s for sure.

In a few words, how would you describe the show Janette, in which you will take part next spring on the stage of the Théâtre Duceppe?

It will be a text by Rébecca Déraspe, and we will pay tribute to Janette Bertrand on stage. What I appreciate is that this show will allow me to learn more about her and, what’s more, it will allow me to pass on her story and make this monument in Quebec known to the new generation.

In closing, the second season of the series The emperor had a big impact on the public. Did you feel it?

Yes really! It was a crazy, fantastic adventure from start to finish and I still hear a lot about it. We received a great wave of love and good comments, both from the public and the industry. I was blessed to play such a character, even if I worried for a while that it would be a bit heavy in my personal life outside of filming.

Gustafson’s second album, Smile to the Angels, is scheduled for release this fall. The show Janette will be presented at the Théâtre Duceppe in spring 2025.
