What a great start! The first comedy produced by comedian Artus, “Un p’tit truc en plus” was packed with spectators for its first day of operation, May 1st. According to Boxoffice Pro, the film recorded nearly 280,000 admissions (279,635 admissions), quite simply the best start of 2024, ahead of Dune 2 (260,811 spectators)! In comparison, released the same day, “The Fall Guy” with Ryan Gosling only attracted “just” a little more than 100,000 spectators in theaters.

One of the best starts ever

The specialized site even specifies that it is “simply one of the biggest opening days of all time for a French comedy, behind the 558,000 admissions of Welcome to the Ch’tis (2008), but far ahead of Intouchables (2011) or What We Did to the Good God (2014), which both had around 200,000 admissions on the day of their release. »

In total, in three days, “A little thing in addition” had nearly 500,000 admissions.

A film shot partly in Drôme and Isère

For his first production, the actor and comedian Artus took on the role of a small-time hitman on the run with his father, played by Clovis Cornillac. To escape the police, they are forced to find refuge in a summer camp for young adults with disabilities, posing as a resident and his specialized educator. In the background, the landscapes of Vercors and Valence, where most of the film was shot last summer.

The Dauphiné Libéré had also visited the film sets at the time and was able to speak with the young director. He spoke in particular about the motivations which had pushed him to make this film, explaining that he wanted to make his first film, “a comedy to change the outlook, to show that it is people like us, with whom we can talk, joke, laugh at them and with them, laugh together, that’s what I want to show. These people make up 10% of the French population, we perhaps don’t talk about them enough, we don’t highlight them. It’s a dating film: how do these two guys, who should never have been there, meet people they had perhaps never even looked at in life? “.
