By overturning the 1984 Chevron case, the Court reduced the power of federal agencies in matters of the environment, health and social protection. A victory for ultraliberal circles after decades of ideological crusade.

In the aftermath of Joe Biden’s disastrous debate, the government and the entire Democratic political apparatus woke up tormented by the anxiety of a weakening of the executive. The morning of June 28 brought them a new historic disappointment. Not content with having annulled key decisions such as the federal right to abortion in 2022, and the protection of minorities ensured by Affirmative Action in 2023, the Supreme Court, once again by a majority of six conservative judges out of nine, buried a case law that had supported the regulatory power of the federal state for forty years and protected its administrations from lawsuits in the crucial areas of the environment, health and labor law.

Issued unanimously in 1984 by the then Supreme Court, under Ronald Reagan, the decision “Chevron vs. Natural Resources Defense Council”, “Chevron” for millions of law students and jurists, stood as a legal monument, being cited 70 times by the Court itself and more than 17,000 times in the federal courts of first instance
