In La Tribune SundayDelphine Ernotte provided explanations concerning the disappearance of the mascots of the game, which is due to return next summer.

Is Télévisions taking too progressive a line? The criticism was formulated at the end of 2024, during a small controversy which heated up minds: the absence of cows in the next version of«Intervilles»in preparation. A decision which responds too much to the spirit of the times, according to its detractors. She would be directly linked to Nagui, producer of the game and activist defender of animal welfare who has repeated several times that he does not want cattle in the arena.

Asked about this in La Tribune Sunday Delphine Ernotte, general director of France Télévisions, persists and signs: « Society has changed. There are things that were possible twenty years ago that are no longer possible today. » A way of moving in the direction of the evolution of mentalities, which have become more sensitive to the real or supposed suffering of animals.

Mayors withdraw

« This could have offended some viewers when we are not here to anger our audience, especially in an entertainment show »adds the former general director of France.

France Télévisions undoubtedly did not want to see “Intervilles” targeted by criticism or happenings by champions of the animal cause. But by making this decision, the public service has attracted the wrath of defenders of the South-West cause and bullfighting traditions… Several mayors have already warned that their city will not participate in the game.

“Intervilles”, which has no legal obligation to part with domestic cows, decided to opt for a mascot designed by Zep, the father of Titeuf. A little weak, probably to perpetuate the tradition.
