Detective Conan is one of these major Japanese works which marked young French viewers of the 90s and 2000s. The adventures of Conan Edogawa have been broadcast on numerous French channels since 2004, and are still broadcast today on Mangas. But despite its cult status, the anime adapted from Gōshō Aoyama’s manga is a series that only a handful of fans have managed to follow. It must be said that it is not It’s not easy to understand a detective thriller with episodes broadcast out of order, especially when many of them have no interest.

If the phenomenon seems less and less present today, the major serialized anime of the time did not hesitate to use “fillers”. This English term refers to “filler-in-the-blank” episodes which present events that do not exist in the original manga. Some fillers attempt to deepen the storyline, for example by exploring the past of an important character, but the vast majority of these chapters only serve to save time. When it comes to releasing episodes almost non-stop, studios have no choice but to invent new sequences so as not to catch up with the publication of the manga. Detective Conan has suffered greatly from this practice but is finally preparing to receive a reworked and truncated version.

The ultimate opportunity to (re)discover anime

The streaming platform ADN has just formalized the broadcast of Detective Conan (Cut Edition) in the coming weeks. From January 29, subscribers to the service will be able to discover the content of first three seasons of the anime, shortened to a 70 episode format sans fillers. Seasons 4 and 5 were reduced to a total of 64 episodeswhich will be available a few weeks later, from February 26.

Among these episodes, some have not been broadcast on French television since 2010, while others have never even appeared on the airwaves, due to lack of rights or censorship. This comeback of Detective Conan in the French audiovisual landscape is also accompanied by an H+1 broadcast of new episodes of the anime, every Saturday at 11:30 a.m. on ADN. Because yes, Gōshō Aoyama’s work is still in progress and has more than 1100 episodes and several feature films.

One Piece always comes to mind when it comes to thinking of an endless manga, but the adventures of Conan are not left out! As a reminder, ADN offers a “Streaming” subscription billed at €6.99 per month or €59.99 per year, as well as a “Download” subscription (also allowing you to download 13 episodes per month) for €14.99 per month. or €144.99 per year.
