The grand opening of the 15th edition of the CIC Normandy Channel was given this Sunday, September 15, at 1:10 p.m., off the coast of Ouistreham Riva-Bella. The Norman duo Guillaume Pirouelle/Cédric Chateau (Sogestran-Seafrigo) leads the fleet to attack the English coast.
The 15th edition of the CIC Normandy Channel Race started this Sunday, September 15, 2024. 25 “Class 40” (40-foot boats, or 12.18 m) took the start of a race which should last a short week, in the English Channel and Celtic Sea.
On board these monohulls, 50 skippers – two per sailboat – will sail a loop from Normandy to Ireland, passing along the southwest coast of England and the Channel Islands, via the legendary crossing points of Tuskar Rock and Fastnet.
As every four years, the race takes place not in June but in September. If the course remains the same, the weather conditions should be very different.

Winner in 2022 and second in 2023, Ian Lipinksi is keen on his revenge, while Caen’s Fabien Delahaye is finally hoping for the title after finishing 2nd and 3rd in the last two years.
