Queen Máxima of the Netherlands, 53, visited Nelson Mandela Park in Amsterdam-Zuidoost on Friday to enjoy an evening of music. Luckily, the weather was good and the Queen was able to spend the evening without worrying about the rain. The concert organisers had taken advantage of the luck of Friday the 13th to organise an open-air concert to mark the opening of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra’s season. Each year, the opening concert of the season is held at a different open-air location in the city.
Queen Máxima grants her patronage to the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, one of Amsterdam’s leading classical music institutions, which has been officially called “royal” since 2013. Former musicians of the orchestra and musicians from the youth orchestra took part in the concert, which performed works by Richard Strauss, Camille Saint-Saëns, Igor Stravinsky and Arturo Márquez. Musician, rapper and singer Sor joined the orchestra to perform several of his own songs in new orchestral arrangements.

For this evening, Queen Máxima looked very elegant, wearing an outfit consisting of a white blouse with cufflinks and loose black pants. She also wore a long coat over her shoulders throughout the evening. Queen Máxima had turned to Italian fashion, choosing a set of pieces from the ready-to-wear brand Max Mara.
The coat, satin blouse and trousers are by Max Mara. The white blouse is a model sold with a ribbon to tie around the neck that the Queen preferred to leave hanging untied. The Queen also wore Gianvito Rossi leather boots.
The ribbon was reminiscent of a tie, the scarf that some conductors might wear or an untied bow tie, which is why Queen Máxima’s wardrobe expert Josine Droogendijk called the look “masculine”Queen Máxima made the ensemble more feminine by wearing a large pearl necklace.
