“I don’t believe these rumors.” François Bayrou, president of the Modem, spoke about the speculations surrounding the new government, which should be formed in the coming week, this Sunday, September 15 on BFMTV.

“We hear a lot of rumours, noises that describe a hypothetical government in which we have lost sight of the balance that we are seeking to move towards a composition that would only be the control of a minority party over the government,” explained François Bayrou.

“No life expectancy”

A government with a Republican majority would be “neither historically fair nor politically fair,” stressed the Modem president. An LR “takeover” of the government “could not work,” he added. “This government would have no hope of life.”

For François Bayrou, the urgent need is “national unity”. A necessity when “we are faced with a fragmented political landscape”.

MoDem leader François Bayrou also assured that he was in favour of a “complete or almost complete renewal of the government”.

“I am in favor of a complete or almost complete renewal of the government so that we have another approach, another sensitivity, other faces,” he declared.
