TV: for the first time, DALS will have a candidate with Down syndrome

In fourteen seasons of “Dancing with the Stars” (DALS), this is a first. The TF1 channel announced on Monday on Instagram the name of a new candidate for the 2025 vintage of the competition: Mayane-Sarah El Baze. This 20-year-old actress is one of the heroines of Artus’ film “Un p’tit truc en plus”, released in 2024. Above all, she has Down syndrome.

Mayane, very active on social networks, has more than 200,000 subscribers on TikTok, recalls TF1 in a press release. “In her videos, she addresses subjects such as difference, bringing personal and committed reflection: “Inclusion is now,” specifies the television channel.

The post was greeted by numerous congratulatory messages, starting with that of Artus who commented: “And yessssss”, followed by four heart emojis. “Ahhhhh!!! It’s folded! You’ve already won! The others have no chance!!”, writes, for his part, the actor Marc Riso, one of the actors of “A little thing in addition”. Their partner Alice Belaïdi, as well as the influencer Nico Capone, finalist of season 13, also reacted.

The young actress thus joins a cast composed – at this stage – of the journalist and presenter Sophie Davant, the Miss 2024 Eve Gilles, the actress and director Charlotte de Turckheim, the former footballer Adil Rami (whose ex, Pamela Anderson, was a candidate for “DALS” in 2018) and the performing artist Lenie, from the 2023 class of “Star Academy”. It is currently unknown with which dancer Mayane will walk the floor, nor when the show will be broadcast.
