Welcome to the burlesque and humorous world of the cult series Kaamelott ! Known for revisiting the famous Arthurian legend with offbeat humor, she has never ceased to bring humor to the evenings of thousands of French people. And for good reason: a King Arthur incompetent in carrying out the tasks entrusted to him by the gods, surrounded by knights of the Round Table with personalities each as burlesque as the next. Among them, we count the famous Karadoc of Vanves. Today we reveal to you what became of Jean-Christophe Hembert, his interpreter.

Fat, that’s life !“, thanks to this famous line, you probably recognize here Karadoc ! This character is in fact known for having a real cult of food in the series. Kaamelott. Best friend of Percival, he shares with him his incompetence for combat and almost never manages to carry out his missions! But his abundant knowledge in terms of gastronomy means he is considered a real specialist! He is called by Arthur to test specialties, but also to resolve problems related to food. This character fundamentally participated in amplifying the offbeat comedy of Kaamelott. Since the end of the series in 2009, the interpreter of Karadoc, Jean-Christophe Hemberthas continued to shine on screen or even in production!

After Kaamelott : the flight into the theater

We all know that the actor is mainly known for his role in the series, but he is also particularly known in the field of theater. Before the start of Kaamelott, the actor already had one foot in the theatrical world. He is known in particular for the adaptation of cult plays like The Miser by Molière, twice in 1999 and 2001; or Faust in 2004.

The end of Kaamelott does not, however, seem to have brought with it the end of the collaboration between Alexandre Astier and Jean-Christophe Hembert, who continue to join forces in artistic projects, especially theatrical: author and director always seem to move forward together. Two plays by Astier could therefore be directed by Jean-Christophe Hembert: That remains my joy ! in 2012 and The Exoconference in 2014. The duo finally met again in 2021 on the big screen in Kaamelott: First Partdirected by Alexandre Astier, and in which we once again find the character of Karadoc.
