Was David Lynch’s death precipitated by the fires ravaging Los Angeles? On January 15, the genius director died, a few days before his 79th birthday. “It is with deep regret that we, his family, announce to you the death of the man and artist David Lynch. There is a big void in the world now that he is no longer with us.” his family wrote in a statement. Later, we learned that the director of Mulholland Drive was suffering from pulmonary emphysema. In November, David Lynch revealed that he had need extra oxygen to walk. An illness which eventually won out, and which would have been aggravated by the fires in Los Angeles. According to Deadline in fact, “he was forced to move out of his house due to the flames, the situation then deteriorated.”
David Lynch: what was he suffering from?
In an interview with the magazine Sight & Sound Last year, David Lynch revealed that due to his fears related to Covid and his diagnosis of emphysema, he could no longer leave his house. “I can barely walk across a room. It’s like I’m walking with a plastic bag around my head“he described to talk about his state of health. Sick for several years, David Lynch was rare.
