Thunderclap in the world of ski resorts. On August 8, 2024, the municipal council of Tignes recorded the non-renewal of the contract which binds the municipality to the Compagnie des Alpes (CDA) and its subsidiary STGM for the operation of the ski area, one of the most prestigious in France. In doing so, the municipality put an end to nearly 40 years of collaboration with the station's delegatee.
Five months later, it is in a relaxed atmosphere that the mayor of Tignes Serge Revial reveals during his greetings the name of the local public company (SPL) which will take over management of the estate from 1is June 2026, end date of the current contract. This will be called Altta, an acronym for the Local Alliance for the Transition of High-altitude Territories. Quite a promise.
