The Pope hopes for a society “with no place for hatred”
Pope Francis expressed the hope this Monday that Donald Trump would contribute to a “more just” society with “no room for hatred”.
“Inspired by the ideals of the nation as a land of opportunity and welcome for all, I hope that under your leadership the American people will prosper and commit to building a more just society in which there is no will have no place for hatred, discrimination or exclusion,” the pope wrote in a message addressed to Trump and published by the Vatican.
“At the same time, as our human family faces many challenges, not to mention the scourge of war, I ask God to guide your efforts to promote peace and reconciliation among peoples,” the pope added , without mentioning specific conflicts.
