The contributory minimum, the minimum basic pension for a full-rate retirement, was increased by 2% on January 1, 2025. It now amounts to 747.69 euros gross per month if you have less than 120 quarters of contributions.
In France, people who benefit from a full pension cannot receive a basic pension below a certain amount. This is what we call the minimum contribution, or Mico. Good news for the retirees concerned: this threshold was increased by 2% on January 1 since it follows the evolution of the Minimum Growth Salary (Smic).
It therefore now amounts to 747.69 euros gross per month, compared to €733.03 in 2024, reports

. The increased Mico, granted to policyholders who have a full-rate pension with all quarters contributed, reaches 893.65 euros gross per month compared to €876.13 in 2024.
The total amount of pensions must not exceed 1,367.51 euros per month
Private sector retirees who have had modest incomes throughout their career are thus guaranteed to receive at least one of these two amounts, depending on the number of quarters they have accumulated. A calculation applies to establish the amount of the increase when not all of the insured’s quarters are contributed.
“If you have more than 120 quarters of contributions, the amount [de 747,69 euros brut par mois] is increased according to your number of quarters contributed compared to your total number of quarters”
indicates the French administration on its official website.
This minimum basic pension may possibly be supplemented by a supplementary pension paid by Agirc-Arrco. But, in this case, the total pensions cannot exceed the monthly personal pension ceiling. This year, the latter amounts to 1,367.51 euros per month. The Mico will be reduced if this limit is exceeded.
