BYD continues to expand its range of electric vehicles with numerous launches in recent months. The year 2025 is no exception since the car manufacturer unveils its new plug-in hybrid minivan, the Xia, but also its price. And its technical sheet is stunning.

BYD has grown a lot in recent months, to the point of narrowing the gap with Tesla. It must be said that the car manufacturer is focusing on value for money with well-equipped vehicles that are less expensive than the competition. Today, BYD announces the launch of its Xia plug-in hybrid minivanon January 8 during an event at the National Aquatics Center in Beijing at 7:30 p.m. local time.

What is the technical sheet of BYD’s Xia minivan?
The Xia was designed to enrich the Dynasty range and stands out as the successor to the Denza Z9, another minivan from BYD. This is a return from the car manufacturer in the minivan segment after the discontinuation of the M6 and Song Max, respectively launched in 2010 and 2017. These models have since been withdrawn from the Chinese market.
According to the approval documents, The Xia is a plug-in hybrid model that measures 5,145 mm long, 1,970 mm wide and 1,805 mm high, with a wheelbase of 3,045 mm. These are smaller than the Denza D9, but not by much: 5,250 mm long, 1,960 mm wide, 1,920 mm high with a wheelbase of 3,110 mm.
The hybrid engine of the Xia minivan combines a 1,498 cc thermal engine developing 115 kW to a 200 kW electric motor. This vehicle features the fifth generation of BYD’s DM hybrid technology. Presented in May 2024, it promises reduced fuel consumption.
How much does BYD’s Xia MPV cost?
The Xia MPV was presented on August 30, 2024 at the Chengdu Auto Show. For the price, we’re talking with a price of 300,000 yuan or approximately 39,600 euros. Pre-orders have been accepted since September 27 of last year.
As explained previously, Xia MPV joins BYD’s Dynasty range. It consists of the Han, Tang, Qin, Song and Yuan ranges which are inspired by Chinese dynasties.
