We had the opportunity to present to you last year the 2025 range of Ram 1500 which, for the occasion, required a few changes. We learn today that the range Heavy Duty of the Ram will also benefit from slight aesthetic changes as well as some technical modifications. Moreover, these changes will arrive sooner than you might think, during the first quarter of 2025.
More muscle under the hood
It is recognized that the HD versions of Ram pickup trucks are designed for more arduous work with more robust technical components as well as increased capacities, compared to a 1500 version. First of all, we still find the 6 HEMI V8 engine. .4 liters developing 405 horsepower and 429 pound-feet of torque. However, the big change is on the side of the diesel engine which benefits from a revision for 2025. The manufacturer mentions that the new high-efficiency 6.7-liter Cummins turbo diesel engine develops more power, i.e. 430 horsepower and 1,075 pound-feet of torque. We are also told that these engines are paired with the 8-speed automatic transmission which also benefits from an upgrade.
This allows for a towing capacity of 16,606 kilograms (36,610 pounds) with a rear axle ratio of 3.42. It should be noted that this represents a novelty, since maximum towing was previously only available with an axle ratio of 4.10. This change should provide better fuel economy, according to Ram.
A slight aesthetic refresh
The changes are also observed on an aesthetic level. First, the 2025 Ram Heavy Duty models get a redesigned grille and headlights, giving them a refreshed look. Additionally, other exterior updates include unique new wheels that will vary depending on the model. The standard incandescent taillights are also revised, while LED taillights with blind-spot monitoring are available on certain higher-end models.
The interior is not left out as it also gets some changes. The latter, however, focus on the technological level. From the outset, the Ram HDs inherit the most recent version of the Uconnect system. An upgraded 12-inch touchscreen for infotainment is standard while a new 14.5-inch screen is also available. Added to this is a new 10.25-inch passenger screen available on certain versions. According to the manufacturer, the latter is a first in the heavy-duty pickup category since Ford and GM do not offer it.
