The 82nd edition of the Golden Globes presented its prize list on the night of January 5 to 6, 2025. It was the film by Frenchman Jacques Audiard which triumphed, while “The Brutalist” acts as a serious competitor before the Oscars.
The first Hollywood charts of the season have been released. The Golden Globes, equivalent to the American Oscars which distinguishes comedies from dramas while also rewarding television series, gave their prizes on the night of January 5 to 6, 2025. And cocorico, it’s the French film Emilia Perez who is one of the big winners. After winning two awards at the Cannes Film Festival, Jacques Audiard’s Spanish-language musical was crowned with four awards: Best comedy or musical film, Best foreign language film, Best supporting actress for Zoe Saldaña and Best song .
The road seems well mapped out for the Oscars which will take place next March. But be careful, another film stood out at the 2025 Golden Globes: The Brutalistwhich the French public will discover in theaters on February 12. This fresco directed by Brady Corbet won three major awards, namely the Golden Globe for Best Drama Film, Best Actor for Adrien Brody, and Best Direction. At the Oscars, it is a safe bet that the two feature films will be in competition, since the American ceremony does not distinguish the genres of the films competing in different categories. In terms of interpretations, Demi Moore saw her performance inhabited in The Substance praised, just like Sebastian Stan (A different man) or Kieran Culkin (A Real Pain).
And what about the series? Unsurprisingly after its Emmy coronation a few months ago, it’s Shogun which won all the major awards in the drama categories. Also accustomed to receiving awards, the series Hacks shone in the comedy category. Discover all of the main winners on the list below.
