With a ceremony held on the night of Sunday January 5, the Golden Globes, widely considered the antechamber of the Oscars, crowned the best cinematic releases of the year 2024. And what a year! Of Challengers has Wicked passing through Anorathese last twelve cinematographic months have been fascinating. Enough to fuel impatience with the awards season, officially launched thanks to a ceremony full of surprises, whose big favorites were Emilia Perez et The Brutalist.

The biggest surprises from the 2025 Golden Globes

We remember: last year, French production Anatomy of a fallproduced by Justine Trietwas among the biggest successes of the year, with two awards won: best screenplay and best foreign film. This year, another French film dominated the charts with no less than 4 awards: Emilia Perez of Jacques Audiard. And if the latter did not win the title of best director as expected (granted to Brady Corbet pour The Brutalistanother big winner of the evening), he can however be proud of having obtained that of best original song with “El Mal”, of best actress in a supporting role who came to crown Zoe Saldanabest foreign film and best musical film. The Brutalist won the Golden Globe for best film, as well as that of best actor for Adrien Brody. So far, results in line with the big predictions. What about unexpected twists and turns?
