The Romanian-American actor is also in the running in the best dramatic actor category for his portrayal of Donald Trump in The Apprentice.
Romanian-American actor Sebastian Stan won the Golden Globe for best actor in a comedy on Sunday for his role in A Different Man.
He plays an aspiring actor suffering from facial tumors, who seeks a fresh start after cosmetic surgery, but is overtaken by a play based on his former life and illness. Sebastian Stan is also up for best dramatic actor for his portrayal of Donald Trump in The Apprentice.
The 42-year-old actor, who thanked his mother for sacrificing everything for him and his American stepfather who welcomed him with open arms, called for better representation of disability and recalled how his two films A Different Man et The Apprentice were difficult to produce given their sensitive subject matter.
“Our ignorance and discomfort with disability and disfigurement must end now. We need to normalize mentioning it and continue to expose ourselves and our children to it to encourage acceptance. One way to do this is to continue to champion inclusive stories”pleaded the winner.
