The United States is facing a winter storm that threatens about 62 million people in the central and eastern parts of the country.

This storm, which will continue through Monday, is expected to bring significant amounts of snow and rain that will create dangerous conditions for millions of people from the Great Plains to the East Coast.

These weather conditions will affect at least 12 states, with the possibility of widespread power outages.

For its part, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Weather Prediction Center warned that “for some, this could be the heaviest snowfall in more than a decade.”

Road conditions deteriorated yesterday Saturday in parts of the central United States, with a significant drop in temperatures recorded.

Heavy snowfall was expected over a significant distance between central Kansas and Indiana, particularly along the northern stretch of Interstate 70, where there was a good chance at least 8 inches of snow would fall .

As a precaution, a portion of the highway in central Kansas was closed and the storm was then expected to move toward the Ohio Valley, causing significant travel disruptions.

Kansas City International Airport temporarily suspended operations in the afternoon due to icy conditions. Dozens of flights, including a private plane carrying the Kansas City Chiefs, were delayed before the runways reopened.
